Proposed change in size of year groups
This consultation started on Friday 13th December and closes at 23:59 on Friday 24th January and outcomes will be posted to the UTC Derby Pride Park website.
On 1 December 2019, Derby’s University Technical College began a new chapter in its work to create a talent pipeline for the region’s top employers. Now known as UTC Derby Pride Park, the technical school for 13 to 19-year-olds, which specialises in engineering, has joined one of the best performing institutions for university technical colleges in the country, The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust.
From September 2020, UTC Derby Pride Park will offer a second technical specialism in life sciences and also enrol younger students from the age of 13 into Year 9.
We are now consulting on a proposed change in size of year groups. As from September 2021, it is proposed that the UTC will admit 120 Year 9 students and that year group sizes for Year 10 and Year 11 will reduce to 120 pupils from 180. This will keep the UTC’s overall capacity the same as previously at 600 pupils (Y9=120, Y10=12, Y11=120, Y12 = 120, Y13=120).
We hope that you will be able to take a few minutes to answer our survey. Every response received will help us to progress and ensure that this next chapter in the life of Derby’s UTC is as successful as possible. Thank you!
