Health and Social Care Technical Level 1/2
The study of this subject gives an insight into the world of working in Health and Social Care, the wide range of career options as well as the development of clinical, interpersonal and care skills needed in practice. There is regular contact with local employers in this field who help to support the delivery of some aspects of the course, ensuring that students have up to date knowledge of industry standards. We also have strong links with our local University supporting our students understanding of clinical skills via scenarios and project based learning.

Course content
The Level 1/2 NCFE CACHE Technical Award in Health and Social Care includes modules in health and social care provision, practitioner roles in health and social care, legislation, policies and procedures, human development across the lifespan, care needs of the individual, accessing health and social care services, partnership working in health and social care, and the care planning cycle. This is supplemented by additional studies in basic first aid skills, communication skills, the human body, and RSHE.
We also offer the NHS cadets foundation programme, supported by St Johns ambulance and the NHS.
Assessment
A piece of extended coursework that takes into account the modules studied and a terminal exam at the end of year 11. There are interim opportunities for assessment of practical and theoretical skills during each module studied.
