Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3

The study of this subject gives an insight into the world of working in Health and Social Care, the wide range of career options as well as the development of clinical, interpersonal and care skills needed in practice.  There is regular contact with local employers in this field who help to support the delivery of some aspects of the course, ensuring that students have up to date knowledge of industry standards. We also have strong links with our local University supporting our students understanding of clinical skills via scenarios and project based learning.

Course content

The Health and Social Care BTEC includes modules in human lifespan development, physiological disorders and their care, working in health and social care, meeting individual care and support needs, nutritional health, enquiries into current research in health and social care, principles of safe practice in health and social care, promoting public health. There are work experience opportunities via our NHS partners

Assessment

In Year 12 there are external exams in human lifespan development and working in health and social care, with other modules assessed via assignment-based work. In year 13 there are exams in enquiries into current research in health & Social Care with all other modules assessed via assignment-based work

GCSE grade 4 in English & Maths.
