UTC Derby Launches New Technical Foundation Courses for September 2020
UTC Derby Pride Park, which specialises in the two exciting areas of Engineering and Life Sciences, has expanded its technical offer to include a brand-new Level 2 course starting in September 2020 for Year 12 students.
The course will help students to make up ground, regain their confidence, build their skills and help them to progress on to high quality Level 3 courses and apprenticeships – giving them a strong and stable footing for progressing into the career of their choice. See the full flyer here.
Students will work on three cross-curricular challenges during the year, integrating Life Sciences and Engineering in a practical and exciting manner, whilst gaining the technical skills needed for inspiring new jobs in careers related to Science, Engineering, Maths and Technology (STEM).
Level 2 Engineering or Life Sciences will be studied alongside maths and English with a mix of academic and practical activity, working on real-life projects in partnership with employers and the University of Derby.
The requirements of the course are 4 GCSE’s Grades 9-3 (3 or 4 in Maths and English Language). Students will have the opportunity to re-sit Maths and English to Level 4 and everyone will sit Functional Skills Maths Level 2.
A place at UTC Derby Pride Park could offer a student their first steps at 16 towards a host of exciting careers, supported by top employers including Rolls-Royce, the NHS and University of Derby.
