UTC students involved in the Midlands Maker Challenge visit the New Museum of Making

Engineering student, Henry Waring, and Health and Life Sciences student, Olivia Nikiel, recently visited the Museum of Making in Derby, with Miss Warburton, Curriculum Director of Engineering.
The reason for the visit was to help the students involved in the Midlands Maker Challenge – an exciting programme for young people to learn more about the manufacturing heritage of the Midlands.
Kerry Warburton, Head of Engineering said, “It was an absolute honour to be asked to invite some of our students currently taking part in the Midlands Maker Challenge to visit the Museum of Making before its official opening. The students loved visiting the museum, which involved exploring the new maker spaces and exhibitions.”
There was an opportunity to speak to Amanda Solloway, Conservative MP for Derby North, about the Challenge and discover the new facilities that will be available.
Kerry Warburton added, “At the UTC, we value employer-led experiences and encourage students to learn more about industry to prepare them for the real world of work. We wish pupils involved in the Midlands Maker Challenge the very best of luck.”
