E4E Derby City Raising Aspirations Awards

The third annual E4E Derby City Aspirations Awards 2021 took place on December 2021 and was open to all Derby City Schools for Year groups 7-13. E4E work with local schools and business partners to build on celebrations of their successes enjoyed over the past two years. UTC Derby Pride Park were proud to have reached the finals in two categories:
- STEM Award
- School of the Year
STEM Award Finalist – Sophie Allsop: Year 10
Sophie was one of three nominated finalists. The STEM Award is for a young person who has shown a passion for and achievement in any STEM subject: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and sponsored by Lubrizol. Applications were welcome for those students who had made achievements in academic progression, practical application, independent learning and a general enthusiasm for the subject.
Judges were looking for students who are aiming high within STEM subjects, who are able to explore solutions to problems and who are able to develop ideas creatively.
We are extremely proud to announce that Sophie won the award in this category and all staff at the UTC would like to congratulate Sophie on her fabulous achievement.
School of the Year – UTC Derby Pride Park
UTC Derby Pride Park was one of three nominated finalists. This award was given in recognition of secondary schools that have generated significant impact for their students, in preparing their young people for the world of work and raising aspirations. Their practice in embedding one or more of the Gatsby Benchmarks to support students achieve their potential is key.
In particular, judges were looking to see innovative and impactful encounters with employers/FE/HE/other post 16 options, and examples of how schools are linking curriculum to the world-of-work and careers aspirations.
UTC Derby Pride Park achieved runner-up in this category and it is fantastic that the continuing progression to raise students aspirations has been recognised.
