Lee, the new Principal at UTC Derby Pride Park
A new Principal has been appointed at UTC Derby Pride Park.
Lee Kirkwood initially joined the University Technical College (UTC) on Locomotive Way, Pride Park, as Vice Principal in 2019. He started his new role as Principal this month on April 1st, 2022.
Lee said: “I am really proud to lead UTC Derby Pride Park. It is really exciting to see our students developing the specialist technical skills that employers need alongside their academic studies.”
He added: “The academic, technical and professional skills that our students develop provide them with excellent opportunities to progress to high quality apprenticeships, the best college courses and a wide range of degrees at top universities.”
Lee has 15 years’ experience in education. He was Senior Director of Maths at Nova Education Trust in Nottingham before joining the UTC three years-ago.
Nick Crew, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Principal, The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust, added: “Lee is committed to our vision of inspiring students to develop the technical, academic and problem solving skills that are in demand by employers.”
He added: “His appointment comes at a crucial time when there is growing national and local recognition of the importance of technical education and skills and having employers at the heart of the curriculum.”
